BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A local car dealership is “sharing the love” with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

Quirk Auto on Monday presented the BSO with a check for $14,500.

As a part of the company’s giving campaign called “Share the Love,” Jim Quirk remembered his days attending grade school in Bangor and hearing the symphony when they came to play.

It made a lasting impression.

One he wants others to have, too.

“Music, you can wake up with it, you can go to bed with it, and helps you get through the day. And hopefully the young kids can understand that use of music, also,” said Quirk, Quirk Auto vice president.

“I think their community focus really aligns with the symphony’s mission of bringing music to all corners of our community, whether that be in schools, online, at the Collins Center, downtown Bangor. We are really, I think, working together to make Bangor a great place to be, to live, work, and support like this allows us to fulfill our mission,” said Brian Hinrichs, BSO executive director.

The BSO’s final show was this weekend.

Up next, they’ll be holding concerts in May featuring their child musicians.
