RANDOLPH, Maine (WABI) - Two Randolph residents were arrested on firearm and drug charges after a man was shot Saturday morning.

The Kennebec County Sherriff’s Office received a call just after 4:30 that a 42-year-old man was shot near Belmont Avenue.

He was transported to an Augusta hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting was accidental and there is no danger to the public at this time.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Belmont Avenue and arrested 35-year-old Eric Cooper and 40-year-old Merideth Prugh on drug charges and illegal possession of a firearm.

Cooper’s bail was set at $30,000 cash.

Authorities say another person of interest and the firearm used in the shooting were not located.
