WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Maine-based entrepreneurs can get help with their business ventures, thanks to an organization in Waterville.

Dirigo Labs is accepting applications for a 12-week accelerator program.

It’s focusing on helping entrepreneurs to expand their businesses in hopes of creating jobs in Maine.

Garvan Donegan is the director of Planning and Economic Development for Bricks Coworking and Innovative Space.

It’s located in the Hathaway Creative Center and is a one-stop shop for economic development.

The space is for members of the general public interested in entrepreneurial activities, creating a start-up or those who just have an idea.

”This is going to be incredibly important and an opportunity, more than just maybe a entrepreneur or a startup. But we’re also thinking about mom and pop shops on Main Street, or restaurants or professional business services,” said Donegan.

“Entrepreneurs are so passionate about the businesses that they’re building. And it’s just, it’s such an inspirational feeling to work with these folks and the fact that they potentially could create dozens, if not hundreds of jobs is so fulfilling to me,” said Susan Ruhlin, Dirigo Labs managing director.
