Powerful wind “Eddy” sends flea market flying Saturday
As wind moves over the Mountains in Western Maine it forms a powerful whirl of air. Folks today described it as a tornado.
SOLON, Maine (WABI) - A flea market in Solon was interrupted today after tables, chairs, and anything for sale started flying into the air.
Our First Alert Weather Team confirmed this was referred to as an Eddy.
As wind moves over the Mountains in Western Maine it forms a powerful whirl of air.
Folks today described it as a tornado.
Shortly after noon they say it flipped tables and collapsed canopies.
Anything that wasn’t tied down began flying into the air.
Tess Laweryson says she and everyone around her were just in shock as they tried to hold things down.
”I can’t even, all my stuff is gone. Oh my goodness look at this disaster,” said Laweryson in the video.
“Things were flying through the air so badly. I got smacked in the head with something, I don’t even know what it was,” said Laweryson. “The lady that was across from me she said I watched it, I thought it was going to take my car up. But I really was shocked at how much stuff went flying over the tree line so we don’t even know where it all landed.”
Laweryson added that this same location where they hold a flea market has had some very windy days but nothing compares to this.
