First time home buyers class offered

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - June is National Home Ownership Month.

With that in mind, a local organization wants to prepare those new to the housing market.

A few times each month, Penquis offers first time homeowner classes.

For a small fee, the eight-hour classes teach people all you need to know about buying a home, from what lenders are looking for, to the grants available to go toward your purchase.

“You should understand all the ins and outs and the cost of purchasing a home. It’s the biggest expense you ever going to have. It’s the biggest loan you’re ever going to have, and you really need to understand the process of getting there and maintaining it. Maintaining your investment is very important,” said Heather Massow, Penquis housing counselor and educator.
