Two Bangor parks getting new playgrounds
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Big changes are happening at two of Bangor’s most popular parks.
Soon, Hayford Park and Chapin Park will have new playgrounds.
Say goodbye to the old green playground at Hayford and hello to a new blue one being built right now.
The new playground will have two structures: one for kids two to five and the other for older kids.
They’ll also have new swings and other features.
Parks and Rec officials say the old one was about 20 years old, and it was time for a new play area for the kids.
”When they get old, they wear out. Many of the events, play events, get worn, and that’s from use, so it’s a good problem to have, but certainly it’s been time to replace this one, and we’re pretty excited. We think that the community, like the previous ones, will be able to enjoy for a long time,” said Tracy Willette, Bangor Parks and Rec director.
Hayford Park will be done in just a couple of weeks.
Here’s what Chapin Park will look like after that new playground is installed.
