Unemployment continued claims drop again

(WABI) - Initial claims for unemployment in Maine ticked up a bit last week after dropping a week before to their lowest levels since the pandemic began.

According to the Maine Department of Labor, about 1,400 initial claims for state unemployment insurance were filed the week ending May 29th.

Continued claims dropped again last week to about 10,600.

There were 100 initial claims filed for federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.

Continued claims for PUA were about 12,300.

Just over 16,000 people continue to file for the federal Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation Progam.
