INDIAN ISLAND, Maine (WABI) - The Penobscot Nation Chief of Police confirmed to TV5 a suspicious package was detonated Monday evening.

Chief Robert Bryant says this all started around 6:10 p.m. when they got a report of that “package” being dropped off at the checkpoint by a woman.

The Bangor bomb squad was called into Down Street.

Now police are trying to figure out the person who might have done this.

“A suspicious package was dropped off by a woman who drove up to the checkpoint and stated that she had a dangerous package and it was going to disintegrate and that she was leaving it there,” Bryant said. “Then she turned and left the island in her vehicle.”
