Bonny Eagle custodian accused of secretly recording girls while changing

STANDISH, Maine (WMTW) - A custodian at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish is accused of hiding in a ceiling space above a girls bathroom and recording girls changing out of their athletic attire.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Kyle Hamilton, 28, of Biddeford was charged with a class D misdemeanor crime of Invasion of Privacy and will be arraigned in August.

Investigators say on Tuesday two girl’s entered a bathroom to change their clothes after a sports practice and noticed a damaged ceiling tile near one of the bathroom stalls.

Officials say they also noticed a cellphone facing them.

According to the sheriff’s office, after some investigation of their own, the girls reported the incident to their parents who told school officials and law enforcement.

“Both the Sheriff’s Office and school officials wish to praise these girls for their vigilance and awareness to their surroundings. Their keen observations and their courage to report this suspicious incident to their parents, and then to school officials and law enforcement authorities is admirable. Their response to this disturbing incident was instrumental in helping advance the investigation,” a statement from the sheriff’s office read, in part.

School officials say Hamilton is no longer an employee of SAD 6.
