Maine (WABI) - 23 more Mainers lost their lives with COVID, according to the CDC.

The latest figures show 5 deaths in Oxford County, 4 each in Penobscot, Aroostook and Cumberland Counties, 3 in York County, 2 in Kennebec County and 1 in Somerset County.

That brings total deaths to 618.

The Maine CDC is also reporting 422 new cases of coronavirus.

There are now 39,960 cases in Maine since the pandemic began.

Of those, 32,118 are confirmed by the Maine CDC.

The state agency is also reporting 51 COVID patients in critical care. Of those, 28 are on ventilators.

Kennebec County showing 84 new cases.

Penobscot County is reporting 29 new cases.

Hancock County with 12 newly reported cases.

Washington County has an additional 8.
