Students thank hospital staff with posters for being community heroes
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Third and fourth graders at All Saints Catholic School in Bangor showed their gratitude to some community heroes today.
To kick off Catholic Schools Week, the students created posters for every department at St. Joseph Hospital.
The posters highlight the heroes that work there from doctors and nurses to cafeteria staff and security.
Students delivered the posters to the door of the hospital. Principal Matthew Houghton says the students were excited to drop them off.
”Whether it’s the gentleman who’s taking our temperature as we walk in, or the front desk, or the doctors, or anyone that’s working in the hospital, they’re our heroes.”
Third grader Lydia created a poster with an anatomically correct heart being held up by a superhero. She’s grateful for her community heroes.
“It must be kind of fun for them because they’re helping people but still a lot of hard work, and we just wanted to cheer them up a little bit.”
Fourth grader Lillianne also showed off her creativity.
“I like baking a lot, so I did a poster for the people who are working in the café.”
Each day this week, the students will celebrate another part of their lives, including their community, nation, teachers, and more.
As part of the weeklong event, students also collected soup and socks for those in need.
