Maine (WABI) - The number of newly recorded coronavirus cases in Maine doubling.

After several days of new case counts hovering in the 300s, Wednesday’s report from the Maine CDC shows 706 new cases.

There are also 11 new deaths to report- 4 come from Penobscot County, 5 from Cumberland County and one each from Kennebec and York counties.

Total deaths in Maine now stand at 530.

Total cases since the pandemic began is 34,963 with 28,523 confirmed, according to the Maine CDC.

There are 68 COVID-19 patients in critical care, 27 of them are on ventilators.

Cumberland County now breaking the 10-thousand mark for newly recorded cases. 168 new ones there, that’s the highest total in the state.

123 in York County, 99 in Androscoggin County.

There are 88 new cases in Penobscot County, 42 in Kennebec, and 20 in Somerset.

18 new cases being reported up in Aroostook County.

Single digits being reported in Waldo and Piscataquis Counties.
