Waterville’s Alfond Youth and Community Center debuts ‘Wellness Window’
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - As we head into the new year, the Alfond Youth and Community Center in Waterville is debuting some new healthy food options.
Their ‘Wellness Window’ aims to offer grab and go meals and snacks that are good for you.
Due to COVID-19, they have a limited menu right now.
It includes smoothies, salads, and breakfast sandwiches.
Kitchen Manager Shawn Forkey says they hope this encourages people to make healthier choices.
”When we expanded, we expanded in the wellness part of our building, and it’s key to everyone being healthy, and not just our staff members here or regular members here, but it’s to our whole community to be healthy,” said Forkey. “And eating and food is a key piece in being healthy so we want to have those options for our members and anyone that comes into our building.”
Forkey says they will source the food locally and use their greenhouse when weather permits.
The wellness window can be used by anyone that typically has access to the building.
