Nearly 600 new coronavirus cases, 9 new deaths reported by Maine CDC

Maine (WABI) - Nine more people in Maine lost their lives with COVID-19, according to the latest numbers released by the Maine CDC.

In addition, there are 599 new cases being reported.

That brings the total number of cases in our state to 26,565 since the pandemic started.

Of those, 22,448 are confirmed.

Three of the deaths being reported for Tuesday, January 5th occurred in York County. There were two each in Cumberland and Aroostook counties. Both Kennebec and Somerset reporting one death related to coronavirus.

That brings total deaths to 369 since March.

York County again seeing the most new cases compared to other counties, 163 more recorded there since Monday.

Cumberland County has 84 new cases, 71 in Androscoggin County.

There are 64 new cases recorded in Penobscot County, 43 in Kennebec County.

Washington County seeing 11 new cases, 18 in Franklin County, and 14 in Somerset County.

Waldo County with two and Knox County recording just one new case since Monday, according to the Maine CDC.
