Friends helping Waterville family involved in shooting accident
Their close friend says this is a tragic accident and they are facing their worst fear.
WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) -Police say a two-year-old was shot and is in critical condition in a hospital in Portland Sunday night.
Kristina Blaney is a close friend of Dan and Cori Hood.
She says this was a tragic accident and has started a GoFundMe to help their family.
Their son, two-year-old Evan Hood is in the hospital in the critical care unit after accidently being shot in the head.
Police said in a press release one of Evan’s siblings found a gun secured in a closet, loaded it and a round was fired.
Blaney said the hoods are facing their absolute worst fear.
”They’re devastated. There’s no other word to describe it other than complete devastation. If there’s any family that deserves any kind of help it’s certainly them. They’re always there for everybody, always willing to help, they’re just good people,” says Blaney.
Blaney says Halfpints Daycare and Preschool is also taking donations and food for the family.
