Maine again shatters record with 554 new cases; 2 more deaths
AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - With an additional 554 cases reported in Maine on Wednesday, daily COVID-19 infections have reached a new high in the state.
That breaks the previous record by 129 cases.
Another two Mainers have died with the coronavirus. One was an Androscoggin County resident, the other from Oxford County.
That brings total deaths in the state to 267.
There have now been 17,311 overall cases in the state since the pandemic began. Of those, 6,394 remain active.
Recoveries now total 10,650. That is an increase of just 36 from last report.
The Maine CDC reported 33 more cases in Aroostook County Wednesday.
More residents there currently have COVID-19 (196) than have recovered from the coronavirus throughout the duration of the pandemic (137).
That’s also true in Hancock, Franklin, and Oxford counties.
All 16 counties are showing new cases.
Among them, Kennebec is +45, Penobscot is +42, Sagadahoc is +19, Hancock is +16, Waldo is +15, and Washington is +10.
