BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The building that houses the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce has been sold to a New York-based real estate development group.

Dash Davidson and his father Peter Davidson decided to purchase the property at 2 Hammond Street for much more personal reasons.

The family vacations in Vinalhaven every year.

This past August Davidson’s mother had to spend about a month at EMMC in the ICU.

During that time, the father and son duo found themselves spending a lot of time in the Bangor area.

They say people were welcoming and compassionate in a time they needed it most.

Chamber of Commerce President, Deb Neuman says she’s thrilled the Davidson’s have bought the property. ”We have no plans to move and they want us here. So, we are partners in this, working with them to help them do what they need to do in the building while we continue to have our offices here. We’re really looking forward to seeing what happens,” she says.

Neuman and Davidson are meeting next week to discuss plans for the building.

We’ll have more details on Davidson and the future of 2 Hammond Street next week on TV 5 News.
