Pedestrian struck by a bus in downtown Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Police confirm a pedestrian was struck by a bus in downtown Bangor Saturday afternoon.

Officials say the bus was turning off Hammond Street onto Main Street around 2:30 when it struck a woman in her 70's.

She suffered serious injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital.

No one on the bus itself was injured.

The roadway downtown is expected to be opened soon.

Police are also asking for any witnesses to the accident to call Detective Jeremy Brock at 947-7384. Ext. 5734.
