A spay and neuter program for folks who would otherwise have trouble affording the service for their pets has already run out of money.

The program, through the Bangor Humane Society, just started last week. It was funded by donations from three foundations, totaling $17,000.

Folks at the humane society expected the funding to last at least four to six weeks. To their surprise, the money was exhausted in just seven days.

The folks at the humane society are actively pursuing other grants and funding from a variety of organizations...

They say, once more money is secured, they will reopen the program.
