When the schedule comes out months before the season begins, Maine hockey fans always circle the home games against UNH. Tonight, all that waiting came to an end as The Alfond welcomed in the #1 team in Hockey East.
The Black Bears enter the night in 4th but only two points behind UMass and Boston College. Robby Dee back for Maine after being out the last four weeks due to injury.
In the second period, the Black Bears were down 1-0 when Phil DeSimone connects on a nasty wrist shot to put UNH up 2-0.
A two goal lead for Ben Foster should be enough right? Well these are the new and improved Black Bears.
Later on in the second, Black Bears on the power play, the nations best power play. Tanner House scores on the open net and its 2-1 UNH.
Then with just seconds remaining in the second, Jeff Dimmen scores his 6th of the season and we're all tied up.
The fans giving Maine a standing ovation after the period.
Then just 44 seconds into the third, Robby Dee off the face off, blasts it past Foster to give Maine a 3-2 lead. Scott Darling was great down the stretch as Maine get a huge win over the #1 team in the conference. 3-2 the final over UNH.
