2010 Is the Year of Tiger on the Chinese calendar - and students at the Bangor Chinese School are celebrating.
Chinese use a Lunar Calendar and this year new year's falls on February fourteenth.
The Bangor Chinese School and the Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine are teaming up to mark the occasion.
Organizers say they think the Year of the Tiger will be a peaceful one.
"So it's generally going to be a happy year this year. The opportunity for human beings and the whole world to be better."
Chinese New Year will be celebrated at the Husson University Student Center Saturday night from 4 to 7.
Tickets are 15-dollars for adults and 8-dollars for children under ten.
