Shelby would like to work with roses when she grows up.
The 15-year old has dreams of designing arrangements for big weddings.
The budding florist showed off her talents recently with Joy Hollowell, at Always Flowers in Veazie.

"If we don't run a wire through it, the crosage will fall apart," says Brenda Pyle, co-owner of Always Flowers in Veazie.
Shelby says she loves gardening and working with flowers, so today truly was a treat for the 15-year old.
"Do you want green or red?" asks Brenda.
"Doesn't matter," answers Shelby.
Shelby tells me she enjoys lots of things outdoors, especially in the wintertime.
"I like to play outside in the snow."
She also likes to read...a lot.
"I can read 277 words a minutes, and like, it's just really fun," says Shelby.
When she's not speed reading, Shelby draws and paints. Turns out she has a particular interest in chickens.
"tell me what's so special about chickens," I ask.
"I think it's natural and funny, the way they go around pecking at the ground to try and get the last bits of food" Shelby answers.
Shelby loves learning, about everything. In school, science is her favorite subject.
"It's fun to learn new things and I think everybody who teaches science has like, a different world beyond them, because they know so much.," says Shelby.
Shelby knows exactly what kind of forever family she wants.
"I'd like a family with two moms, or just one mom. And a family that likes to do outdoor activities."
Shelby says when she's adopted, she's like to change her first and last name, as a way to solidify her new journey in life. Shelby adds that having a family to call her own, is something she's very much looking forward to.
"I guess, it's just because you know, you have a family that loves you. Somebody that loves you," says Shelby.
