SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - Authorities say the Christmas Eve death
of a man in Skowhegan, Maine, has been ruled a homicide, and a
woman who rented the apartment in which his body was found is being
charged with murder.
Spokesman Steve McCausland from the Maine Department of Public
Safety says an autopsy indicates the victim, 63-year-old Richard
Howe of Troy, was stabbed to death.
McCausland says 45-year-old Karen McCaul of Skowhegan is being
charged with murder, but there has been no court appearance because
she has been hospitalized. McCausland declined to talk about why
she's in the hospital.
Howe's body was found by Skowhegan police in McCaul's apartment
after she alerted authorities Thursday afternoon.
McCausland says the two knew each other, but the nature of their
relationship is unclear.
