If you're headed to Bangor's Festival of Lights parade on Saturday, you're invited to bring along a food item to donate.
Lane Construction is working on filling one of their dump trucks with a ton of food for local food pantries.
On Saturday, they're planning to set up food donation boxes, decorated like presents all along the parade route. They'll be there starting two hours before the parade starts, and again once it's over.
It's the first year the company is doing the food drive at the parade. They say it ties into the theme of the day.
"The theme of the parade is Joys of the Season. Giving is a huge part of those joys. We just want local families to be able to give back to other local families," says Gene Welson, with Lane Construction.
Workers at Lane were also busy decorating their parade float Thursday.
On Saturday, you'll be able to find their food donation boxes set up all along the parade route in Bangor: at the waterfront, the police station, Davenport Park, the intersection of Water Street and Main, the court house, along the Waterfront and in West Market Square.
They say all the food will go to area food pantries.
