Thursday's Child- Donavon

The dog days of summer may be over, but anytime is a good time to hang out with man's best friend.

13-year old Donavan met a whole lot of friends at Bangor Pet Resort and Spa.

That's where he and Joy Hollowell hung out, for this week's Thursday's Child segment.

13-year old Donavan is an easy going guy, even when he got a tongue bath by one dog as well these great danes trying to share a seat with him.

We had a lot of fun playing with all the pooches at the Bangor Pet Resort and Spa.

This 7th grader says he loves to spend time outdoors, especially on his bike.

"I have a mountain bike, but then I have another bike that I got recently from the dump. It looks like a chopper mixed with something else. And it has a banana seat, so I spray painted that black cause it had rust on it. The banana seat had a rip, so I duct taped that," says Donavon.

"So you added your own chop to it?" I asked.

(Donavon nods his head)

Donavon tells me he also likes to chip golf balls.

"Usually come in with less than when we went out with," says Donavon.

This blue-eyed boy is up for any adventure. He doesn't call himself a daredevil, just a curiosity-seeker.

"Once I master skiing, I want to try mastering snow boarding, key word- try," says Donavon.

Donavon says he'll try just about anything.

"But not spinach. I wouldn't try it," says Donavon.

"You haven't even tried spinach yet?" I ask.

"Nope," says Donavon, "cause it looks disgusting."

I ask, "How much money would it take to try spinach?"

"$50 bucks," says Donavon.

Donavon says he's looking for a family with siblings.

"But not very young ones, because they're just too much energy," says Donavon.

He'd also like a mom and a dad, especially a father because...

"My dad left before I was born," says Donavon.

And, in case you haven't guessed already, Donavon wouldn't mind a few pet dogs as well.

Meet Donovan… a young man born in August 1996 who is waiting for an adoptive family.

Those who know Donovan best say he is very creative and smart. He is an honor roll student at school and does not require any special education services. Donovan is funny and has a great sense of humor. While he would rather be outdoors than indoors, he does enjoy playing video games and listening to music while he is inside. However, his list of his favorite outdoor activities is much longer! He loves canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, biking, swimming…he is a very athletic young man.

Donovan would like an adoptive home where he can have a domestic pet and especially wants that pet to be a dog. He loves watching Animal Planet on T.V. After the show, he likes to talk about all he learns about the different animals featured.
