Some supporters of Question One on the November ballot, the effort to repeal the same sex marriage law, say someone is stealing their signs.
Jean Barry and Cara Vereault received signs from the Yes on One campaign and started posting them around the Bangor area last week.
Barry and Vereault say they put up all the signs according to regulation, out of the vision of traffic on Thursday.
But by Friday, they say all of Barry's one-thousand signs were gone.
Barry, Yes on One Signs Stolen: "My signs that are in front of the Civic Center were gone. My signs next to the park on union Street were taken. My signs at the triangle next to city hall are taken. My signs at the corner of Broadway and State Street are taken. My signs at the triangle of Harlow and Kenduskeag are taken."
Vereault says she posted 30 signs in Old Town and all of them were gone by this week.
It is unlawful to remove political signs. If caught and convicted, it's punishable by a fine of up to 250-dollars.

Homosexuality is not a physical characteristic to be protected or promoted by civil rights. It is a behavior and as such should not be compared to things like race, gender or ethnic origin. There are two sides in this debate, and both sides find the others stance offensive. The irony is that the side which cries out equality and tolerance demonstrates neither. Marriage is the foundation of society and should be protected to be between only one man and one woman.
Guess what? We still won. Your dirty tactics just make you look like the petulant children you are. You want equality and tolerance, then be tolerant of the oppositions' right to freedom of speech. You don't have to like it. I hate most of what is coming out of Washington and Sacramento. I'll work to stop it, but I do it through legal channels.
And you make the choice to be offended. I wonder how many of you are offended by the Pledge of Allegiance, the American Flag, and the Star Spangled Banner...
So with all this fear mongering and victimization going on, it sounds like one more lie to me.
They lied about so many things, how is different?
You 'Yes' people are going to hell, you know it, you can feel your intolerance and hate from well within your heart and soul. You have no love for your fellow human being, only yourselves and your like. There's no way you can't despise yourselves short of oppressing a group of people who were once such an insignificant minority but are now no longer. How you can continuously attempt to deceive and poison my fellow brothers and sisters is beyond me...
Biggots repent, for the end is nigh!
I can tell you that although there have been some "polite and respectful" comments made on SFMM pages, the vast majority are vile and hateful. Members of the page attempted to reason with people initially, but the discussions quickly turned into attacks on individuals for their stance. There are sites that are encouraging people to post to the SFMM site simply for the purpose of drowning out the supporters and making the page ineffective as a means of supporting SFMM. This is a quote from one of the sites:
"Our goal is to have over 1,000 people join this group and continually make one post a day on their wall, as we as LGBT people eventually flood their fan page and show all of those people who come to their page who we are and help those people get a better understanding of what it means to be gay."
SFMM has been forced to heavily moderate the site due to the actions of many on the "No on 1" side and the lgbt community. As a result of this many individual supporters on the page have also come under personal attack. These are the tactics employed by the community that cries out respect and tolerance, but acts otherwise.
AMERICA BABY- FREE SPEECH.
I salute the efforts of the sign bandits! How dare the opposition try to encourage hate!
Being gay is NOT a choice, people are NATURALLY attracted to the same sex. And if you believe in God, you know he forgives you for anything. He MADE the gays. God made everything the way he wanted. He wouldn't hate his children. That goes against all he says. It is not perverted, sick, or any other thing you may think. You need to get your mind out of the stupid, narrowminded alley you've gone down.
I watched the debate, and the speaker for Yes On 1 made NO good points, couldn't even find supporting evidence it would affect anyone negatively. No lawsuits have come from it, and nobody's been harmed by it. The speaker even went as far to say "it's not discrimination to treat something that's different differently". That was the stupidest remark he made all night, considering that's exactly what it is. You realize this isn't supposed to have ANYTHING to do with religion, right? The more you talk about God, the more you're straying away from the topic.
There are a bunch of straight married couples who don't even love each other, who abuse each other. Straight couples can be just as promiscuous as gay couples. Just because gays don't produce children, does NOT mean they shouldn't be able to get married. Marriage has nothing to do with children. Some married couples never have children, straight or gay. And NO, a child does NOT need a mother and father. There are tons of single mothers and fathers who NEVER have contact with the other parent.
As for schools, as far as I remember, I never learned about gay marriage, or marriage at all. I had never even discussed it in school until High School, where we are more open about everything. To say it'll be taught in schools is going off topic again.
This question is about marriage. To keep the law so that any two people may be married, regardless of gender. Our constitution says that all men are created equal, which means we have the same rights. This goes against that, as did the question on gay rights a few years back, which was highly against the constitution.
I urge you to actually THINK before you vote. It doesn't effect you, it effects the gays, their families, and their children. If you're not one of them, then you don't even really need to worry about it. So two guys or two girls want to get married because they love each other. Sound fine, considering a man and a woman who hate each other have every right to get married.
God loves the gays.
unless you believe the essentialists arguments of the "yes" folks....in which case all the yes folks are immature, cheating...ect
