Day two of the moose hunt today in the northern part of the state. The season's first week ends Saturday, and the second week will
start october 12th in a number of other areas of northern Maine.
Ashland had a busy day at the tagging station with 57 brought in. One of them weighed 1,023 pounds. The biggest of the day was brought into the New Sweden station... that one was 1,026 pounds.
They say there are about 29 thousand moose in the wild. There are 3,000 permits, and about three quarters of hunters usually get their prize.
