Every sixty seconds someone tries to commit suicide.
A person taking his or her life is something that affects entire communities, and that's why a series of walks will take place Saturday.
They will raise awareness and funds to help those left behind.
The Coastal Maine Out of the Darkness walk begins at 9 Saturday morning at the old Rockport Elementary school building.
Then at two Sunday afternoon walkers will step off from the University of Maine at Orono campus.
On Sunday, October 18th, the north central Maine walk will take place in Waterville.
The money raised goes to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
