The weather gets cold and every other day there will be a story of a house/trailer that burns down. Usually something dumb: wood stove near flammables, lit cigarettes, space heater left on/left unattended-left near flammables,6 appliances plugged into an outlet, lately candles burning down houses seems to be on the rise. Then you have smoke detectors" home did not have one or home had smoke detector but no batteries.
Then you have people on their second or third house fire(referring to a Norridwock story).
If i recall an American Red Cross story last year. they were warning they are running out of resources.
Is there anyone in Maine that is not aware of the non stop house fires going on in Maine over the past several years? It seems many Mainers are not learning from other people's mistakes.
I dont think i mean this but i think the day people as well as entire families are living on the street, sleeping on the street using a curb as a pillow, after their house burns down, house fires in Maine are going to go down.
And instead of Mainers getting mad at my post, How about double checking the safety of you house before you leave or go o sleep. Than call your relatives. Instead of praising them on their new wood stoves , tell them the safety precautions. Instead of taking the batteries out of your smoke detector alarms and putting them into the TV remote, LEAVE the batteries in the alarm and walk to the TV. No smoke detectors? They are less than $5 now. Instead of getting a tattoo, spend the money to buy 10 smoke detectors
