Well it's about time. At the going rate of about $300 per ton retail, IW stands to turn a hefty profit! Good for them, good for Maine and great for those of us who, in the past, have had to deal with rationing. An additional 100,000 tons might even help bring the price down a smidgen.

International Wood Fuels and companies like it are changing the mentality of "lament & dependency" in Maine. They're taking local resources, processing in local plants, selling finished product locally, and using local trucks and labor throughout the whole process.
Instead of losing graduates to Boston, NY, and elsewhere, Maine's in a great position to capitalize on the Energy Economy. Further, these wood pellets will offset carbon (1-ton of carbon for every ton of pellets used), reduce dependency on foreign oil (and thereby strengthen National Security), and provide DOMESTIC (local) jobs in tertiary service markets (landscapers, sign-makers, etc.). Way to go iWoodFuels!

Just to echo the comments of Jude, the benefits that wood pellets can bring to a community and country in general are huge. These include increased local jobs in the collection, processing and distribution of wood residues and wood pellets. This helps to utilize local resources to produce local fuels, and at a time of recession, helping to support the national economy. Many people only focus on the environmental benefits wood pellets can bring, however the economic benefits are also significant.

If you buy a pellet stove, prepare yourself for some manual labor.
