The elevator at the Penobscot Narrows Observatory is running again after conking out yesterday.
State Transportation spokesman Mark Latti says it shut down because of corrosion on circuit boards from the excessive moisture this month.
Around noon yesterday the elevator quit after taking seven visitors and a guide to the top of the tower. The Prospect and Stockton Springs fire departments responded.
They blocked off traffic to the bridge, then climbed the hundreds of steps to get to the folks stranded up top and walked them down.
Technicians from Stanley Elevators were on site today to make sure everything is okay.
