Federal budget cuts are prompting the Eastern Area Agency on Aging to cancel a Monday meal service.
But all of the other food programs for local seniors are still up and running.
Organizers say the meal at All Souls Congregational church in Bangor drew only two or three people each Monday.
Dropping it, though, will save money spent to staff it.
Agency officials say they're scrounging for pennies because of the loss of funding due to federal sequestration.
Wednesday and Friday meals at the church are still a go.
Rob Crone, the director of nutrition and auxiliary services, says, "The attendance on Monday between holidays and different things is just low. Not maybe a great day of the week. The other days are fine and they're going to be unaffected, as is Meals on Wheels. Nobody who's on the Meals on Wheels program will be losing any meals or curtailing or any such thing.
The agency is working on ways to raise money and food for some of the meal programs.
They're selling special bracelets for $28, the cost of feeding a senior for a week.
And they've started some local collection drives.

So far the other cuts at the agency include closing the office on Fridays, beginning in April, and dropping home visits.
