A newly formed Maine coalition is launching its campaign in support of expanded Medicaid coverage in the state.
The Cover Maine Now Coalition says it's comprised of more than 70 groups.
A rally and press conference is being held Thursday in South Portland in support of legislation for Maine to accept federal funding to expand Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
Expanding Medicaid coverage is an open question in Maine as the Legislature sorts out its spending priorities for the next two years.
Republican Gov. Paul LePage has expressed reluctance to the idea, while also signaling he's willing to discuss expansion if his plan to repay a lingering $484 million hospital debt is paid.
Democratic leaders say expansion is a priority.
