BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Faculty tenure will be a major item on the agenda when the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System meets.
Twenty-five faculty members from across the state are being considered for tenure. Their tenure will be reviewed by the trustees at their meeting Monday at the University of Maine at Augusta. Six of the seven universities are recommending faculty for tenure.
Other items to be considered by the trustees include a new, unified statewide employment background screening policy; refinancing revenue bonds to achieve savings in interest paid on the debt; and establishment of two assistant professorships at UMaine. Also on the agenda is $1 million in additional spending for a project at UMaine's Memorial Gym and Fieldhouse Complex.
