Angus King Speaks To Fairfield Students Via Skype

3

Fairfield - Students at Lawrence High School got to chat with Senator Angus King Wednesday afternoon.

King answered questions in front of the entire school vis skype.

Students submitted about 80 questions but those were wittled down to about 20.

King talked to the students about a variety of topics ranging from education to gun control. "Well my position is that the regulations should be more on people than on guns," King told the students. "I think the most important thing we can do is to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. Whether they are criminals, people with dangerous mental illnesses, terrorists."

King said he does not support an assault rifle ban.

Lawrence senior Matthew Saunders moderated the discussion. "It was awesome. Senator King is real easy to talk to. it was just fun and laid back," said Saunders. "It went well and I think it would be good for other schools to do and maybe again for Lawrence High School."

A representative for King says the Senator got the idea to skype with students while on the campaign trail.

He plans to speak to as many Maine high schools as he can squeeze into his schedule.
