State Police Investigating Suspicious Death Connected to Standoff
One man is dead after a standoff with state police in Lincoln Monday.
State police spokesman Steve McCausland says the suspect shot himself in the head with a rifle.
His body was found inside his U-Haul truck just after 8 P.M.
The incident began around 4 P.M. when he was pulled over by a Penobscot Sheriff's deputy in connection with an ongoing missing persons case that police have been involved with since the weekend.
A woman traveling with him left the scene shortly after he was pulled over.
I-95 was closed down between exits 215 northbound and 217 south.
Police negotiated with the man until, they say, he took his own life.
His identity is expected to be released by authorities Tuesday.
