Enfield Fifth Grader With Cerebral Palsy Gets Gift Of A Lifetime

3

Enfield - An Enfield fifth grader had a day he'll never forget.

11-year-old Brandon Smart has cerebral palsy.

He loves monster trucks.

Saturday, he met his hero, Dennis Anderson, who drives Grave Digger.

Anderson made a very special promise to Brandon.

"We went to the pit party and we met all the drivers and Brandon made a huge impression on Dennis Anderson from the get-go, and Dennis told Brandon at the pit party that if he won, that he'd come see him and bring him something special," said his mother, Denise Smart.

When he got to meet his favorite driver, Dennis Anderson, "It was like I was going to burst through the roof when he came up."

Anderson and his truck, Grave Digger, were the last up, and pulled out all the stops to win the freestyle competition.

Anderson gave a speech to his fans. It was one the Smarts will never forget.

"I have to cut this short, because I have to go all the way to the other end of the stadium because I have a little boy in a wheel chair that I'd promise that I'd come see. We were sitting all by ourselves and the all of a sudden, we look around and there's, like, hundreds of people all around us. I never in my wildest dreams thought that we'd be coming home with a trophy. His memory is unbelievable. So, he'll, this is something that he'll carry with him forever," said Smart.
