Husband of Norridgewock Day Care Provider Charged with Sexually Assaulting 3 Children

3

Norridgewock - The husband of a Norridgewock day care operator is charged with sexually assaulting three of the children who went to the day care.

State Police arrested Horace Barstow, 67, on Friday. He's charged with three counts of unlawful sexual contact with children under the age of 12.

Police say there are three victims.

According to police, Barstow's wife, Barbara, operates ABC 123 Daycare from their home on Upper Main Street in Norridgewock.

Horace Barstow was released on bail from the Somerset County Jail. He is scheduled to be in court in April.

Police are interviewing parents of current and past students at the day care to determine if there are any additional victims.

It is too bad that a person is guilty until proven innocent these days. I have known this man for 40 years and find this impossible to believe. My own children spent a lot of time with Horace and his family. I hope the "system" really finds the truth.

What is this world coming to? Your children are not safe at school, at day care, not anywhere. Sick O's like this guy should get severe punishments. Any abuse to a child, physical or sexual, should be automatic death penality!!!

Was he not a previous member of the Somerset Sheriff's Department?

whats sad is to think that just because youve known someone for forty years and u dont think their capable of something like that, that their not?Sorry, that's just naive. Do we as a society not get fooled by those we love and know all our lives? Our children, relatives? It is hard as a parent to have your child hurt in such a way and if anyone deserves our sorrow, its these parents. They are far stringer than I, because Id be sitting in Somerset County under assult charges. I feel for you parents, you know who you are, and your precious babies. Im truly sorry your pain.
