A year after a Zumba studio in Kennebunk shut down following allegations the instructor was using it for prostitution, another Zumba studio is opening in its place.
Joyce Bagshaw is opening Danceworks in space that used to house a fitness studio operated by Alexis Wright. Wright is accused of using the studio as a front for prostitution in a case that has drawn worldwide media attention.
Even with that kind of notoriety, Bagshaw doesn't have any second thoughts about her venture. If anything, she says, the publicity will help.
Bagshaw is going to begin offering a few classes this month, with a grand opening scheduled for May.
