Second Town Discusses Mandatory Gun Ownership

3

Byron - Another Maine town is considering making gun ownership mandatory.

Byron Head Selectman Anne Simmons-Edmunds said Thursday that all three members of the board favor the measure and she expects residents to approve it at next week's town meeting.

The article asks, "Shall the town of Byron vote to require all households to have firearms and ammunition to protect the citizens?"

Simmons-Edmunds says most households in town probably already have a gun.

She says approving the measure will "prevent someone from coming into our town and trying to restrict our rights."

Byron, in northwest Maine, has a population of about 140 people.

Selectmen in the central Maine town of Sabattus earlier this week rejected a resident's proposal to require all homes to have firearms.

How can it be required all homes have a firearm? For example if ur a felon, or u simply dont want one in your home. This is a serious question.
