Hermon -
A scary scene for a driver trying to remove an ice shack on Hermon Pond Thursday morning.
The Maine State Game Warden Service said Robert Sinclair drove his GMC pick up truck onto the pond from Jackson Beach when his truck fell through the ice.
Warden Rick Ouellette said the call came in around 8:30am and the truck fell into the 12 feet of water shortly after.
The driver escaped safely, but is now responsible for paying for the removal of the truck within the next 30 days.
The Warden Service urges drivers to use caution, especially with Spring right around the corner. "Ice conditions are changing and some areas that were safe earlier this week are not safe now. So, we urge people to use some caution when going on the ice," said Ouellette.
The Game Warden said if you need to go on the ice, but don't think the conditions are favorable, call the Warden Service at 941-4440.
