Newport -
Supporters of the RSU 19 loan rallied in Newport Wednesday afternoon.
Friday will be the third time the RSU 19 community will vote for a loan proposal.
This time, the proposed budget is $2.8 million. The passage of the loan will prevent a school shut down.
Things like after school buses have already been canceled. One supporter said it's time to stop the bleeding.
"I don't want my taxes to go up, I don't want anyone's taxes to go up, however, this loan is the best solution for the problem at hand. My theory is, it's better for me to pay over 10 years an increase in my taxes as opposed to paying for it all at once in one year," said Wayne Prescott, President of the RSU 19 Education Association.
Superintendent Gregory Potter has been visiting each town to discuss the loans over the past few weeks.
He'll make his final stop in at the St. Albans Consolidated School Thursday at 6:30pm.
The final loan vote will be held this Friday, March 8th in each town's designated polling place.
