3

Fort Kent - A Minnesota man has won a 250-mile sled dog race through the wilds of northern Maine for the second straight year.

Ryan Anderson, of Ray, Minn., finished the race in Fort Kent at about 4 a.m. Monday to win the 250-mile Irving Can-Am Crown race in a running time of 31 hours, 22 minutes, 16 seconds.

Denis Tremblay, of St. Michel des Saints, Quebec, finished second. Laura Daugereau, of Port Gamble, Wash., was third.

Thirteen teams entered the race, which is billed as the longest and highest-caliber sled dog race in the eastern U.S. and which serves as a qualifier for Alaska's Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Besides the 250-mile race, the 21st annual Can-Am Crown Sled Dog Races also featured 30- and 60-mile races that were run on Saturday.
