Fairfield Police Officer Cleared of Wrongdoing in Accident

3

A Fairfield police officer who caused an accident in January while making a U-turn to pursue a speeding car has been cleared of wrongdoing.

A Maine state police crash report says Officer William Beaulieu failed to yield the right of way when he made a U-turn on route 201 and was struck by a truck.

The attorney general's office says there's no citation because the turn was legal and didn't happen on a curve or the creast of a hill.

Beaulieu was injured, his cruiser was totaled.
