UMaine Women's Basketball Bus Crash - UPDATED with Twitter Reaction from Players and Staff

Georgetown, MA - The UMaine Women's Basketball team was involved in an accident last night on their way to Boston.

The bus driver reportedly had some of medical issue as they were heading south, and the bus crossed the median of I-95 around 8:30pm in Georgetown, Massachusetts and crossed the northbound lanes of traffic.

The bus ended up hitting a tree on the other side of the interstate.

According to police, coach Richard Barron tried to grab the wheel, but couldn't do so because the driver was slumped over the wheel.

The drivers injuries were reportedly not life threatening, but he was flown from the scene to a hospital.

All of the team members and staff were checked out at the hospital.

Two players, Ashleigh Roberts and Corinne Wellington were treated for injuries, coach Barron was treated for cuts to his face, and director of basketball operations Sam Wheeler was also treated for injuries.

Overnight some of the coaches and players posted updates for friends, family and fans on Twitter.

Assistant coach Todd Steelman posted: "thankful tonight for the safety of our players...that no other vehicles were involved, and praying for our bus driver."

Assistant coach and former Black Bear player Amy Vachon wrote on her account: "Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.. I've heard from so many I cant respond to all.. but we are good.. def a miracle"

UMaine Sophomore guard from Greene, Maine tweeted: "Sorry to worry my family and friends but in the midst of everything my phone broke but that is fine by me because we are all safe!"

Black Bears Freshman Liz Wood wrote on her account: "walked away without a scratch #blessed"

UMaine Freshman forward Sophie Weckström tweeted: "Thank you all for all the prayers ! Blessed !!"

Maine Sports Information Director Tyson McHatten wrote on his twitter account "Someone was looking over our women's basketball team tonight ... thoughts and prayers with our bus driver. #miracle"

The Bears game against BU for Wednesday was cancelled, Maine will play UNH Saturday in Orono.
