Presque Isle -
A state police trooper was air lifted to the hospital after being involved in a car crash in Presque Isle Monday afternoon.
Authorities say Trooper Shawn Whalen was driving on Route 1 when he attempted to make a U-Turn in the roadway.
His cruiser turned in front of another car travelling behind the trooper and the driver told authorities he couldn't stop in time.
Trooper Whalen was injured in the hip. He was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
The other driver had a minor injury to his hand.
We're told Trooper Whalen's K-9 was also in the cruiser, but not injured.
That area of Route 1 was closed for about two hours while authorities investigated.
