Bangor Fire Department Hosts Chili and Chowder Cook-Off

3

Bangor - The Bangor Fire Department hosted it's first Chili and Chowder Cook-off Saturday.

The event was held to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

For ten dollars, attendees were able to sample all the entries and cast a vote for their favorite.

Judges included TV 5's own Carolyn Callahan and Todd Simcox.

Organizers say this event is the first of its kind.

"it's just something different for the area, being cold in the winter time, not much going on. We figured the Chili Cook-Off would be a draw and get people to us and it looks like that's going to happen," said Bangor firefighter Casey Perry.

The Pro award went to Husson Dining Services. The amateur winner was the son of the Bangor fire chief. The audience pick was 11 Central.
