Ellsworth -
In today's economy it's difficult to find a job, whether you've just earned a degree or are a workforce veteran.
Vincent Ghelli never had write a resume or cover letter, but since he's recently been laid off, he needs to find a new job.
"This is a very rural area and people build their job skills based on what needs to be done in the place they work," said Ghelli.
A free "Resume Bootcamp" in Ellsworth is teaching people, like Ghelli, how to make a resume stand out.
Bangor Career Center Consultant, Sue Leighton said "They really need to market specifically to that employer or to the job they're applying for and some people just really don't understand that or they never had to do it. So we try to help them through the process."
The career counselors believe many people who are unemployed already have the skills needed for a new job, they just need to learn how to market themselves.
"It's all there, it's just a matter of getting it on paper and presenting it in a job interview," said Mary Delisle, a Career Consultant at the Bangor Career Center.
A full day of resume tweaking, cover letter writing, and job interview prep has many people in attendance feeling at ease
"It definitely took away a lot of the anxiety of creating the resume, so that's good," said full-time student and mom, Jessie Stewart.
And the next step for these folks: landing the job.
