Voters to Decide Future of Schenck High School

3

East Millinocket - Voters in East Millinocket are expected to decide the future of Schenck High School, which could include closing it.

School committee members agreed Tuesday night to put a $2.1 million repair project to a referendum vote, possibly as soon as April.

The project would fix the school's roof and gym floor, among other things.

Committee chair Dan Byron says they also want to give voters options, like paying tuition to send the students to other schools.

Byron says if voters don't approve the repairs and move to close the school, it wouldn't happen immediately but over a period of one to three years.
