Lawmakers are set to vote Tuesday on Governor LePage's bill to temporarily block the release of personal information for concealed weapons permit holders.
The governor proposed the emergency legislation last week after the Bangor Daily News requested the names and addresses of all permit holders.
The move drew backlash from citizens, lawmakers and the governor.
Newspaper officials said they wanted the information as part of long-term reporting projects and that they never intended to publish the names.
The BDN has since withdrawn that request.
The temporary bill will give lawmakers time to consider a bill already in the works that would permanently block release of the information.
